Interview: Dio Kurazawa - "How Fashion Is Designed, Made And Sold Should Simply Be Responsible"
This 20-year fashion veteran wears many hats! At trend forecasting agency WGSN, Dio Kurazawa (@diokurazawa) is the Head of Sustainability and the Head of Denim, and he also holds an advisory role for the Copenhagen Fashion Summit. While wearing his most important, as a founding partner of The Bear Scouts (@thebearscouts), Kurazawa gives brand's production practices a sustainable overhaul. We talked to Dio about his work with The Bear Scouts, fashions pace with implementing socially responsible practices and the misconceptions of eco-friendly fashion.
Much like the how the Bear Scouts plays a middleman role, fashion media and other insiders form stylist to buyers play an important middleman role between brands and consumers. Do you think these magazines, stylist, influencers etc play a role in our industry becoming more sustainable?
Screaming about sustainability or responsibility in fashion works to bring light to the topic. However, brands, stylist, magazines and the like should continue to focus on fashion being inspiring and beautiful. The business of fashion should remain appealing. How fashion is designed, made and sold should simply be responsible. The product must always be dope!
