Yves Saint Laurent Becomes A Trending Topic After Young Thug and Gunna’s RICO Indictment

Saint Laurent is the latest fashion brand to cause chaos on social media, but the buzz isn’t due to an unannounced drop or collaboration announcement. Instead, under its full house name Yves Saint Laurent, the fashion house became a trending topic due to the shocking news that rappers Young Thug and Gunna got arrested for gang-related charges; let me explain.

Young Thug and associates, including Young Stoner Life Records rapper Gunna, were named in a 56-count indictment due to their affiliation with the YSL gang. On May 9th, at his Atlanta home, the "Hot" rapper was arrested and charged with conspiracy to violate the racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) act, according to the 88-page indictment. It goes on to state, " as associates of the enterprise Young Slime Life (hereinafter “YSL”), the defendants conspired to associate together and with others for the common purposes of illegally obtaining money and property through pattern ofracketeering activity and conducting and participating in the enterprise through pattern of racketeering activity." 


Indeed this is a serious matter.


Founded in 1961, French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent is currently under the helm of Anthony Vaccarello (appointed as Creative Director in April 2016)-- is not alleged to be involed in any gang-related criminal activity. However, the correlation between the abbreviated Young Slime Life and Yves Saint Laurent didn't stop twitter from causing YSL and Yves Saint Laurent to trend with over 25 thousand tweets.
