Retweet: Twitter Reacts To Balenciaga's $1850 Paris High Top Sneaker

A luxury pricepoint and pieces from Balenciaga go hand in hand. However with their latest sneaker release, the Spaniard-founded fashion house may have finally asked for too much.

Making its rounds around Twitter is a picture of Balenciaga Paris High Top Sneakers severely distressed, dirtied, and destroyed beyond the point of wearability for the asking price of $1850. There's a twist, though! According to highsnobiety.com, Balenciaga is suggesting that, "the Paris sneaker is 'meant to be worn for a lifetime.'" With that marketing idea in mind, the brand is releasing a limited run of the Paris sneaker already broken in for wearers of the brand for the higher price point.

If shelling out nearly $2,000 for a pair of worn-in kicks is ridiculous to you, the Paris High Top also comes in untarnished white, red, and black colorways, leaving you to ruin the sneakers at your leisure. Similar in style to a pair of Chuck Taylors, the Paris High Top has a destroyed washed-effect cotton upper and rubber sole. Stamped on the sole is the black Balenciaga logo on the toe, and the shoe size embossed on the heel. These cleaner renditions of the trainers retail for a more reasonable $625. The Paris sneaker also comes in the low-top mule style for $459.

While this is only one limited style for Balenciaga, other brands have a reputation for selling brand-new distressed sneakers. Golden Goose, for example, is an Italian-based brand widely known for its "lived-in" sneaker styles with its star logo. Of course, Twitter had a lot to say about the apperance and pricepoint of the sneakers currently available for pre-order on Balenciaga.com. Check out the best reactions to the new Balenciaga Paris High Top Sneaker.
