Damson Idris Races Ahead In Custom Tommy Hilfiger At The Met Gala

Damson Idris didn’t just arrive at the 2025 Met Gala—he made an entrance. The British-Nigerian actor pulled up to fashion’s biggest night wearing a custom #Swarovski-studded racing helmet and a white fire suit, an unapologetic nod to his forthcoming Formula 1 film with Brad Pitt. The movie, produced by Apple Studios, sees Idris step into the role of a young F1 prodigy being mentored by a seasoned driver, played by Pitt. The helmet—equal parts couture and cinema—served as a symbolic fusion of performance, power, and precision, setting the tone for a look that delivered on all fronts.

Once the visor lifted and the suit came off, Idris revealed a custom Tommy Hilfiger three-piece tux that honored the night’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with intention and edge. The jacket, a split-panel masterpiece, balanced classic and bold—one side rendered in solid rouge, the other in a gold-and-black plaid “Tommy Tartan” lifted from the brand’s 2000 archive. Flared trousers brought a strong '70s silhouette, grounded by matching leather boots and gloves that added a subtle street-luxe grit. He went tieless, letting the crisp white collar pop beneath the structure of the look, while a gold chain brooch and necklace brought warmth and regality to the ensemble.

This wasn’t just fashion—it was narrative styling. From the Swarovski helmet to the reimagined tartan, Idris embodied the intersection of Black legacy, cinematic futurism, and tailored rebellion. A look that didn’t just wear the theme—it drove it forward.
