Aaron Pierre Started Acting in High School.

Pierre, 32, began his acting journey as a teenager. On The Jennifer Hudson Show, he shared that his first big break was a high school play which sparked his acting bug, sending him on a journey to pursue his dreams as a lifetime career.

"I think I first started acting, I was about fourteen or fifteen. The high school that I went to didn’t do drama as a subject. They did play every three years and had the opportunity to do Moby Dick and I was the narrator. I remember stepping out to, I think it was bottom stage left, and I only had about three or four lines, did my piece, went backstage and I just remember feeling overwhelmed by this feeling of that is what I wanna do for the rest of my life."


He Knows Brazilian jiu-jitsu

Aaron Pierre is big on getting his workouts in. While roles including Genius: MLK/X and Rebel Ridge require specific training for his roles as Malcolm X and Terry Richmond respectively, the West Croydon native told Men’s Health doesn’t miss hitting the gym, and martial arts training in his free time.

"When I’m not training for a specific role I do a combination of weight training, calisthenics, and a considerable amount of martial arts. I Box and do Brazilian jiu-jitsu. It is the most humbling thing in the world."


His first acting credit is Prime Suspect 1973

His best friend Kelvin Harris junior may have thought Krypton was Pierre’s first acting credit on Buzz Feed UK’s BFF test. But, in fact, it was Prime Suspect 1973. Prime Suspect 1973 is a British crime drama series and a prequel to the iconic Prime Suspect series. It aired in 2017 and stars Stefanie Martini as a young Jane Tennison, a character made famous by Helen Mirren in the original series. Set in 1973, it follows Tennison as a rookie police officer navigating the challenges of a male-dominated police force while working on her first murder investigation.

Aaron Pierre Is From London

One’s upbringing plays a pivotal role in how we interact with this world. For Pierre’s, West Croydon in South London is where he calls home, he shared in an interview with AP.

“I grew up in South London. I grew up in a place called West Croydon and I grew up on Council State which I think here you would refer to as a project, government housing, and it’s my favorite place in the world. It’s my favorite place in the world and it has enormously contributed to the man I am today.”


He’s confirmed to be The Next Green Lantern

Pierre will make history as the first black actor to play Green Lantern in the forthcoming DC superhero series, Lanterns, set to launch Summer 2025 according to a story on Variety posted in June 2024.

“I’m deeply grateful that I’ve been gifted the opportunity to bring such a beloved and celebrated and cherished character to life. This means so much to me. It’s a character that radiates for me identity and strength, charisma class and I really want to do my best to serve this character and honor this character And I’m really excited to bring it to the people and hopefully they feel that we’ve done him and the world justice.”
