Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) continues to find herself as a hot topic in political round table talks as President Donald Trump keeps up his campaign to paint her as the face of the Democratic Party. His usual antics, twitter ranting where he shared that the 13th congressional district rep wants to cut off aid to Israel before unloading on the rest of the squad, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley shapes a lot of the mainstream conversation around these freshmen congresswomen but despite the narrative 45 tries to bestows on these women to amp up his base, these ladies ran on passionate and policy rich platforms that longer form interviews highlight.

On the debut episode of The Remedy, a YouTube series hosted by Jamal Simmons for The Hill, the political pundit talked with Tlaib prior to her swearing into office on a number of topics ranging from how she planned to represent her district in Washington to if she would sit down with President Trump. “What set me apart from the 5 other candidates in the race is I only wan’t just going to vote the right way, I was going to help people through everyday issues,” Tlaib told Simmons in a sit down interview after knocking on 55,000 doors in her district and listening to her constituents during her campaign. In the rest of the conversation, Tlaib explains hows back home she’s recognized as the “coke girl” for talking on the Marathon Petroleum Refinery, Environmental Justice and when asked if she would sit down with Donald Trump she replied, “of course I would meet with anyone, everyone should know that about me.”
