Songzio Announces Collaboration With DC Comics

Comics and couture collide in the latest collaboration with Songzio and DC Comics. The collection draws inspiration from the publisher's most celebrated heroes and villains, combinding avant-garde streetwear with sequential art.


DC Comics, founded in 1934 as National Allied Publications, is one of the most influential comic book publishers. The company is best known for creating iconic superheroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. In 1938, DC revolutionized the comic book industry by introducing Superman in Action Comics #1, marking the birth of the modern superhero genre. Over the decades, DC expanded its roster of heroes and villains, developing a rich fictional universe known as the DC Universe. In the 1950s and 1960s, during the Silver Age of comics, DC revamped many of its characters, introducing new versions of heroes like the Flash and Green Lantern. The company's name, DC, derives from its popular Detective Comics series, which first introduced Batman in 1939. Throughout its history, DC has influenced pop culture through comics, television shows, and films, playing a pivotal role in shaping the superhero narrative across multiple media platforms.


Though it appears that multiple members of the DC universe appear within the collab, the dour atmosphere of Gotham City sets the tone for the majority of the garments displays original artwork of Batman and The Joker featured on the backs of hooded sweatshirts. Also included in the lineup are multi-patch cardigans, sweatpants, and sweatshirts. The most successful piece is a cream crewneck sweatshirt with "The Dark Knight Rises," scribed on the back with a small chain Batman logo near the collar.


Songzio is a contemporary South Korean fashion brand known for its avant-garde designs and artistic approach to menswear. Founded by designer Song Zio in 1993, the brand has gained international recognition for its bold use of structure, monochromatic palettes, and abstract artistic influences. Songzio combines traditional tailoring with modern, experimental silhouettes, often incorporating elements of Korean culture and art into its collections.


The brand has been a staple at international fashion weeks, particularly in Paris and Seoul, where its runway shows are celebrated for their theatrical presentations and sculptural designs. Songzio is also recognized for its focus on craftsmanship and high-quality materials, giving its pieces a luxurious yet innovative edge. Through its exploration of art, architecture, and modern masculinity, Songzio has become a leading name in the global fashion industry, appealing to both fashion-forward individuals and those interested in the intersection of fashion and art, with current and past notable collections with Reebok, Warner Bros, Snoopy, and Tim Burton. Next month (November 2024), Songzio will open its first international flagship store in Paris, France at 10 rue Charlot, 75003 Paris, in the Marais district.
