Hey Ladies: These Celebrities Are Absolutely Stunning In Cushnie

My first Cushnie moment dates back to attending their one of their fashion shows during NYFW. It was February 2016 and designers were showing their AW19 collections. At the time Cushnie was known as Cushnie et Ochs and Michelle Ochs, one of the brand's co-founders still sat at the helm along with Carly Cushnie, the brands current designer. Their Fall 2016 offerings tickled my fancy. I was writing for Wonderland Magazine at the time and the brand's sexy aesthetic, though pleasing to the eye and beautiful on the body as models conquered the catwalk in cowl neck slip dresses, made me question, "Will we ever want a new cutout, slit or fit from Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie in the future?"

Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs launched Cushnie et Ochs after graduating from Parsons School of Design in 2008 -- Carly attended Parson in both New York and her native, London. As a duo, the industry loved their fashionably suggestive line of dresses and separates. Cushnie et Ochs became award-winning one year after their arrival on the scene taking home an Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award in 2009. They followed up that honor with two more awards, becoming CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist in 2011 and CFDA Swarovski Award nomination in 2013. Two years after that, the brand secured investors and hired Peter Arnold to serve as the brands CEO. Things took a turn as the brand inched passed its 10th anniversary when both Michelle Ochs and Arnold left the brand just a week after their Fall 2018 showing. On the departed, a spokesperson for the brand told WWD, "Over their decade-long partnership, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs have created a vibrant brand, unique in its bold sensuality and minimalist sophistication. As we plan for the next decade, we are realigning our organization with Carly at the helm of our leadership team, while seeking a new CEO from the marketing and merchandising world, who can further accelerate the expansion of our brand." While the brand had its focus set on the next ten years with Carly solely at the helm the rest of was curious to see how these shake-ups would impact the brand.

Like a phoenix rising from ashes, Carly Cushnie rosed to the occasion for her first showing on her own. The brand now renamed CUSHNIE, expanded to bridal, denim, and doubled down on their luxury handbags for Spring 2019. Vogue called her first solo collection, " filled with passion and self-expression," and WWD described the offerings as, " modern and urban." As we head into CUSHNIE's first official season on the sales floor, we wanted to look back at some of the best celebrity style moments featuring sultry after five vibes courtesy of the womenswear brand.
