The fashion industry mourns the loss of a menswear icon. Joe Casely- Hayford, OBE, one the designers at the forefront of British style in the 80s and 90s has passed away at age 62. Launching his namesake in 1984 after graduating from Central Saint Martins and quickly made a name for himself mixing his formal Savile Row training with the cultural influences. In his fall 91/92 collection, Hayford sent well-tailored separates down the runway for both men and women. Models puffed on cigarettes, poured libations, twirled and danced while sporting leather outerwear with identical trouser, preppy plaids, sheer panel skirts, and shirt with heart-shaped coverings for the ladies and suit jackets and pants for the guys. A young Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje -- you'd probably recognize him from Game of Thrones, The Bourne Identity, Marvel's Thor: The Dark World and DC's Suicide Squad -- graced the catwalk in a knit jumper with sequins detailing and red dress pants. More recently before his untimely death, Joe partnered up with his son Charlie to relaunch his brand under the family name, Casely Hayford London, sold on casely-hayford.com.
